The previous couple of years, the VR technology industry has developed at an exorbitant speed; dozens of VR games have been shown at exhibitions. Gradually, technologies are being integrated into the spheres of culture, art and, of course, the changes also apply to games. I was wondering how many VR games we will see this year on E3 without the participation of SONY. There seemed to be only three projects.
However, without presentations, a sequel shooter from the London Studio VR Worlds mini-game series, Blood and Truth, was released. I must say that I liked the demo about the London robbery most of all - a nice level design, management capabilities, shooting and of course the plot, so I was very happy about the special edition.
The coordinates on the box are immediately evident - if you drive them into Google Maps, it becomes clear that these are the coordinates of the house. Inside is a deck of cards, a chip, and a weird, cut poster. Maybe I don’t rummage through the posters, if you know what the incision is for, write in the comments.
Now back to the game. Feel the atmosphere of history allows perfect support for control using DualShock, a cover letter indicates that the Move-controllers will be even more convenient.
The game's plot revolves around the character of Ryan Marx, who returned to the family nest of criminal authorities in London, which occurs at the time of the death of the head of the family and brings with it drastic and for some minor characters fatal changes in the hierarchy of power.
At the beginning of the game, the system provides the ability to choose to turn off several effects and limit viewing when moving, which can be useful for people with poor vestibular apparatus. This opportunity allows you to feel comfortable after a long time spent in the reality of the game.
At first I played with a full review, but after a couple of hours of the game I decided to switch to the simplified mode.
London Studio thinks through the use of VR technology in non-obvious elements, making the passage more interesting. So, if the character wants to light a cigarette, you just need to bring the controller to your mouth, simulating a lighter, and then inhale and exhale “smoke”. The character in the game will smoke. If you pick up food and repeat the chewing movement with your mouth, then the VR-world, it will be eaten. It was amusing that the wipers and emergency gang switches in the car are also working, however, the virtual partner does not react to this at all.
But this is all the everyday trivialities of the townsfolk, the most interesting thing is to feel yourself in the shoes of John Wick, who went out in revenge for a dime. London Studio achieved realistic sensations when playing, not only in interaction with firearms or cigarettes, but also when moving the body while moving through complex locations and even opening keyholes and safes. The game does not have a “teleport” from point to point or the mechanic “Press X 10 times”
The cinematic nature of what is happening in the game is not only due to colorful special effects and the possibility of slow-motion shooting during chases or shootings (although the latter do not always look as realistic as we would like because of insignificant details), the visual component, including the game of characters and moving around developed locations . All this remains at an incredible level, surpassing what was in VR before.
Selected cast of actors, professional dubbing, a good soundtrack - all this conveys the atmosphere of mafia realities. Well, the virtual reality helmet itself allows you not to break into reality, complementing the game environment. After all, we see not just a picture in which we can move, but we are immersed in a prescribed and thought-out scenario.
All those techniques that the studio tested in the demo and which with a number of minor improvements were transferred to a full game are clearly visible. So, for example, at the very beginning there is a mission in the car, which almost one-to-one, with the exception of some points, copies the mechanics from the demo.
“Blood and Truth” can be called the most impressive VR-game on the market at the moment. London Studio did a great job on the plot, dialogs, visual and sound effects, which together provide full engagement. The game is perfect for helmet owners who want to play a quality VR project.
