November 30 HP Inc. officially presented the DeskJet MFPs - the GT 5810 and GT 5820 . Compact novelties that are capable of delivering large volumes at low cost are designed for home use and small business needs. Representatives of HP told us about the new products - Dmitry Khlynin, Development Manager for the Inkjet Printing Devices category, and Anvar Davletshin, Development Manager for the Consumables category.
Again "in the stream"!Until recently, it seemed that the future lay in fast and compact laser printing devices, however, in the midst of the crisis, the good old “inkjets” were updated again - due to its economy and simplicity. However, one cannot say that DeskJets are greetings from the past. Rather, a rethinking of the classics.
The continuous ink supply system (CISS) is simple, like all ingenious: inks are fed directly to the printhead from the tanks when a vacuum is created. Cartridges are not needed, the stove is also - the device uses the simple laws of physics and, most importantly, achieves impressive savings! Despite the fact that similar units appeared at competitors much earlier, HP specialists decided not to flog hastily, but to bring their brainchild to perfection.
Where is the catch ?!An experienced Dmytro Khlynin spoke about the principles of the new MFPs specialist in this field. According to him, “ active home users and small companies need efficient, modern devices to reduce costs while maintaining consistently high print volumes without compromising on quality and functionality .”
Wait ... We are all used to the tacit confrontation between manufacturers and ordinary users. The first years invented ingenious smart chip cartridges and spare parts, trying to force them to purchase their branded consumables - often more expensive. The latter stubbornly searched for loopholes, bought Chinese "compatible", refuel with syringes, tricked the "enemy" electronics with soldering irons.
After such an experience, the DeskJet GT 5810 and DeskJet GT 5820 look at least suspicious: there are no cartridges at all ! Yes, and other "means of pressure" is not observed - the system is too simple and straightforward.
Self-refueling - no service and expensesIncluded with the MFP are 3 tanks with 8,000-page HP GT52 color inks and one (HP GT51) with 5,000-page black inks . The original formula, invented specifically for these devices, is resistant to water and light and preserves the brightness and clarity of prints for decades.
You can prepare the MFP for work in a couple of minutes: turn it on and fill in ink. Yes, on their own, without the help of an authorized service center, registration, password entry or special tools. You open a jar, a reservoir, combine in colors, insert, wait. HP thought of protection “against a fool” by developing a “unique innovative reservoir design”: ink will not pour out above the acceptable level, will not spill and will not stain you (whoever refills the cartridges with a syringe, remembers the dangers of the process).
Capacities do not need to compress or shake - everything works by itself, on ordinary gravity. As Anwar Davletshin , development manager for the Consumables category assured us, ink does not spill. If you nevertheless made an effort and ingenuity by putting the tank under some kind of hydraulic press, then nothing terrible will happen either - they are not toxic. By the way, it is worth trusting the passengers of Interstellar to check whether the contents of an open bottle can dry out or deteriorate.
Consumables: Relationship TransparencyRelations with consumables here are generally as transparent as possible - like the reservoir where they are stored. Vision is more reliable than the data that hysterical sensors give out: probably everyone is familiar with the situation when the printer beeps for six months about the lack of ink, but continues to print? System status and the number of copies printed can be monitored on the pictographic display.
Suspiciously, but there are no original chips in the bottles or valves. So you can pour anything you want ?! Leaving the obvious “loophole” for those who like to save on brand paint, HP developers immediately warn that, due to the peculiarities of ink supply, “left-handed” chemistry can kill the whole mechanism. A jar (from 690 rubles) is in every way cheaper than a new MFP.
DeskJet GT 5810/5820 MFPs print any color and b / w documents, brochures, leaflets , including borderless ones . With photo paper they give out (as we have seen in practice) stunningly bright and juicy images of professional quality.
DeskJet GT: Field TestsThe leaves come out immediately dry, do not smear and do not have a specific chemical smell. Or is it the merit of ColorLok® special paper ? However, if there are no heating elements in the mechanism, then a significant part of the problems (such as a break to cool down in the emergency) will not affect the owners of the CISS.
DeskJets, like MFPs, can print, scan, and copy. The older model GT 5820 has an advanced filling with HP ePrint and WiFi Direct® : it can be connected via a network or directly. A free application for any type of HP All-in-One Printer Remote OS makes it possible to control printing from a phone or tablet , or even turn a gadget with a camera larger than 5 MP into a mobile scanner !
The younger GT 5810 has similar functionality, with the exception of wireless communications - only USB, only hardcore! If you select a device for the home, then there is not much difference. If you look at the MFP in a small office, it is better to pay extra for advanced features.
Not really big: a lot of simultaneous wireless connections “hangs” the system: in the end, the device stops responding to “irritants” before rebooting. Or worse: when everyone is tired of trying, it will endure a theatrical pause ... and begin to hysterically print everything-everything ordered earlier. Dmitry Khlynin noted that these compact cars are suitable for a team consisting of no more than 3-5 people.
List of Merits
As a conclusion, here is a list of the advantages of the HP DeskJet GT printing system that the manufacturers themselves compiled:
- large volumes of printing at a bargain price;
- convenient and safe ink refilling with anti-spill protection system eliminates the risk of getting dirty;
- convenient and intuitive monitoring and maintenance tools (mainly the eye)
- Consistently high quality printing of documents and photos;
- mobile printing (even without the Internet - with WiFi Direct®) - with the older model;
- borderless printing;
- Convenient copy and scan capabilities with high quality.
Prices and availability
So we got to the moment of truth! The devices have already gone on sale - since November 2016
- The starting price for the DeskJet GT 5810 MFP starts at 14,990 rubles ;
- DeskJet GT 5820 will cost at least 15,990 rubles ;
- Starting price of containers with original ink HP GT51 and HP GT52 - 690 rubles per bottle;
- To complete the picture, we found out the price of the highly recommended HP for use with ColorLok® paper: 500 standard A4 sheets cost about 600 rubles , and a pack of similar photo paper (100 sheets) costs more than 1,000 rubles .
Summary:+ If at least half of the declared charms of the DeskJet GT series device is confirmed in practice, then the purchase can be considered successful. A compact MFP that can print truly high-quality photographs (in the frame and on the wall) - this is useful to everyone at home. The absence of trouble with cartridges, overheating and the need to visit a service center for refueling is immensely pleasing.
+ 15 thousand "wooden" for MFPs with photo printing, - the average price for devices with similar characteristics, and consumables do look affordable against the background of requests from other companies. Today they spend more on a mobile phone.
+ If this “miracle of technology” is really so cheap to operate, as marketers say, then competitors will have to be nervous. Students will cry with happiness.
- In the real world, it doesn’t happen that nothing breaks, but it’s real to detect typical problems of a particular thing only during long-term operation. Probably the weak point of the device with CISS is the printheads: replacing them is one of the most frequent cases of accessing the service. Hypothetically, one should be careful not to get air into the ink supply system and fake ink. A gadget with such a simple mechanism should be unpretentious and reliable: vandals will have to use ingenuity and imagination.
