Hello, friends! As you probably already noticed, yesterday Treshbox was significantly updated, the site design was changed, and several new functions appeared. Now weekly digests from the community of our site will be displayed in two special blocks, and the design of header pictures for these digests has also changed. Oh well, it's time for fresh applications for your Android devices. All the most interesting is under the cut
This week, Google Play released few interesting and important applications, so in this release of the digest I do not have to choose. The most interesting new application this week can be called Blinkist - a program for those who want to quickly get knowledge from books. Immediately it is worth noting that the program is suitable only for those who speak English.
Blinkist is a kind of book service that can accumulate the information you need from books, as well as recommend interesting things for reading. The application and its concept are designed in such a way that the user does not spend a lot of time reading, but extracts a maximum of knowledge in a minimum of time. You can download the Blinkist app for free on Google Play
This offer is unlikely to suit anyone who visits Treshbox, because it was created to work with a car and so far works only in the United States. However, due to the lack of good new programs this week and the interesting concept of Metromile, I decided to add the application to the digest.
The Metromile program allows the car owner to get all the information about the car directly to a mobile device. Startup Metromile offers special free devices that plug into the ODB-II ports in cars and communicate with the mobile application of the same name to transmit all the diagnostic information about the car. The application is available for free on Google Play
, and more information about the Metromile project can be found on the official website.
Last week, Google significantly updated its proprietary News and Weather app. It is worth noting that this program has not yet appeared in weekly program digests. One can hardly say much about the functionality of the application - it is just a program for reading news and viewing weather information.
In the latest major update, Google News and Weather received an updated interface and some new features. It is worth noting that the updated appearance of the program was widely accepted by the public. You can download the Google News and Weather app
on Google Play
or on the Treshbox
Also last week, mobile and desktop applications of the BitTorrent Sync service underwent a significant update. Recall that this service is being developed by BitTorrent as an opportunity for secure storage and synchronization of data between several over the network.
In the latest update, data encryption mechanisms, backups were improved, and the application interface was changed, the capabilities of quick sharing of file links and other optimizations and minor corrections were added. You can download the latest version of BitTorrent Sync for free on Google Play
or on the Treshbox
More recently, two interesting and useful applications for Android Wear, a software platform for smart watches, have appeared on Google Play. If you already have a watch with the aforementioned OS, then you are probably tired of the local unlock method. Using the Showear app, you can install the unlock pattern on your wearable device.
Heart Rate Training uses the heart rate sensor in your watch and displays whether your heart rate is normal or not. In addition, the Heart Rate Training version for full Android allows you to compose and send special heart training. Both programs are available for free on Google Play.
It was a rather meager release of the weekly digest of the best applications for the Android operating system. I hope that next week mobile application developers will please us more. Let me remind you that the next issue of the digest will be waiting for you on the Treshbox exactly one week later.
