Updating the line of power supplies is more difficult than motherboards. For example, Intel took its 270th chipset, named 370th and tied the eight-thousandth series of processors on it. Everyone who needs six-core in Socket 1151 will run for boards on the 370th Z. This will not work with power supplies.
Engineers tried, selected mosfets with lower transition resistance, debugged the operation of the PWM controller, changed the wiring of the board to reduce interference in the feedback circuits, and as a result, the unit gave out six voltages and gives out. And ten years ago it was the same thing - the same boxes, the same stresses. Only lower efficiency and the appearance of the eyes did not please.

Appearance, platformThe unit looks strictly presentable, not least due to the original fan wire grill. It is much better than a simple stamped for "noise".
The case is made of millimeter steel, painted with black powder paint. At the inner end there are eight modular connectors.

Inside the case there is a modern platform with separate stabilization of all channels, active PFC and high-quality components.

The electronics of the unit left only pleasant impressions; they did not save on it and worked on quality.
ExploitationWe loaded the power supply on the stand, estimated the voltage on the channels and the ripple. When setting up at the factory, all the voltages on the power channels were set to nominal, and therefore any serious load dropped the indicators due to losses on the conductors and contacts. Most of all this affected the + 12V line - the minimum indicator is 11.83V. Initially, they would put up 2% more voltages (and this is a change in the ratings of two or three SMD resistors), would receive a drop of less than a percent of the nominal. In any case, the indicator fits into the specification of the standard.
Channels +3.3 and +5 are unlikely to load 20 or more amperes, and the voltage will not drop to 3.17 and 4.84 volts.
Line 12 surprised with pronounced low-frequency pulsations with an almost complete absence of a high-frequency component. There is nothing to worry about - the amplitude is small, about 20 millivolts, and does not affect the operation of iron (the upper limit according to the ATX specification is six times as much - 120 mV).
On the lines +3.3 and +5 are classic: rare high-frequency emissions with an amplitude of slightly more than 40 mV and small “noise” with an amplitude of less than 20 mV. Good performance.
Fan operation (aerodynamic noise) is heard when the load power is above 350 watts - the temperature of the power switches jumps to 65 degrees, the regulator increases the speed of the impeller. With a load of one third of the rated power, the fan is almost inaudible, the temperatures of mosfets do not rise above 45 degrees.
To summarizeImmediately on the main thing - the 650-watt Straight Power 11 is worth the money. If desired, this model can be found for 10-11 thousand, I entered the average price at the time of preparation of the material. Before us is a worthy model in its category, it should be considered when assembling a PC of medium and high power. As practice shows, a good 650-wattnik is enough for the top six and eight-core processors in conjunction with some GTX 1080 Ti or Vega 64.
Necessary remark: many readers will surely blame the price tag - they say that the author got too tired, they sell models for 1000 and even 1200 watts for 12 thousand, and 650-watts sell for 4-5 thousand. But upon closer examination - under load, using measuring instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters - the difference between "650 W for 4,000" and "650 W for 11 000" is very visible.
