During its fall presentation, Apple showed off the new iPhone and Apple Watch models with long-awaited features. Unfortunately, some of them will not be available in Russia and the CIS countries - information about this flashed at the conference itself and is now available on the official Apple website.
Two SIM cards have appeared in the iPhone, but only one will be able to use
One of the long-awaited innovations in the iPhone XS / XS Max and XR has become the support of two numbers. The catch is that the second number is recorded on an electronic SIM card (eSIM) - this technology is not supported by Russian operators and telecommunications companies in the CIS countries, because of which people simply will not be able to use the second number in new iPhones. The situation is similar with the LTE version of Apple Watch - smart watches also use eSIM technology.
Apple also released special modifications to the iPhone XS / XS Max and XR with two slots for physical SIM cards, but they will be officially available only for the Chinese market.
Russians will not be able to record ECG through Apple Watch Series 4
A key feature of the Apple Watch Series 4 was the ability to record an electrocardiogram (ECG). The Cupertinians managed to do this thanks to the appearance of new sensors on the side of the case adjacent to the arm and on the Digital Crown wheel - to record the ECG, the user just has to put a finger on the wheel of the watch put on his hand and wait 30 seconds. In a press release for new smart watches on the official Apple website, it is indicated that this function will work later in 2018 and will be available only in the United States. Why is not clear. Probably, smart watches are now classified as a medical device, and the apple corporation needs to get permission to sell them from the relevant authorities in each country.
Will the new iPhone and Apple Watch work in the future?
There is a chance that this will happen. But how soon is unknown. It is only clear that if the arrival of eSIM in Russia and the CIS countries takes place, then certainly not in the near future.
Regarding the possibility of creating an ECG through the Apple Watch, too, is not all clear. Since this feature is extremely new and is still in testing mode, it is unlikely that the "apple" corporation will rush with its certification outside the United States.
