Appearance and Ergonomics
ASUS ROG Strix Fusion 300 - gaming headset. Moreover, the design is not flashy, the main material is black matte plastic, complemented by inserts from smooth semi-gloss plastic of graphite color. A noticeable game with lines and patterns - the accessory looks elegant. A bright accent is the red LED backlight on the outside of the cups, which is activated when the headphones are connected via USB. In the left cup is hidden flip directional microphone on a flexible leg. When folded, the microphone is successfully inscribed in the body and is barely noticeable.
On the back of the microphone side there is a single key with an indicator that activates the 7.1 virtual sound. The connectors are spaced into cups: microUSB on the left, and a 3.5 mm jack on the right.
ASUS ROG Strix Fusion 300 - large monitor headphones. The cups are swivel, ear pads have a degree of freedom in the plane perpendicular to the cups. The headband is adjustable, it is based on a metal plate, which provides the design with the necessary flexibility and reliability. In addition to this, a thick soft cushion covered with fabric is provided on the headband. All of the above provides a comfortable fit, the cups gently grab the ears, the design does not feel heavy. Passive isolation at a high level - ear pads effectively cut off external noise.
By default, leatherette ear pads are installed, but also included in the scope of delivery are fabric ones that are optimal for hours of gaming.
Unlike other gaming headsets and headphones, ASUS engineers provided two interfaces at once. Declared compatibility with computers based on Windows and macOS via USB 2.0. And with consoles, smartphones and other devices using the usual 3.5 mm jack.
To connect to a computer via USB, a driver is not required, the headset is defined as an audio device and is immediately ready for use. The fabric-braided cable with gold-plated plugs is 2 meters long. The cord is flexible enough, does not cling to the edges of the table, glides well. It should be borne in mind that the backlight and virtual sound 7.1 only works when connected via USB.
In the AURA proprietary utility, it is possible to adjust the intensity of the glow and the “breathing” backlight mode. If necessary, the LEDs can be turned off altogether.
In the video you can look at the breathing backlight mode.
There was no problem connecting with the audio cable. When using a complete wire with a 4-pin connector, a microphone is available. Cord in a fabric braid, length 1.5 meters. The versatile design and hidden microphone allow you to use the ASUS ROG Strix Fusion 300 to listen to music on the street paired with a smartphone.
Sound and microphone
The headset is based on 50 mm drivers, which is common for monitor headphones. The sound is detailed, the emphasis is shifted in favor of low frequencies - the bass is rich and deep, but not booming. Because of what the exhaust sound, shots and other low-frequency effects sound very good. At the same time, the sound does not turn into a noisy mess - medium and high have sufficient detail.
Headphones give the necessary stereo effect, which helps to navigate the games, for example: to understand from which side the explosion thundered, where the enemy is running from. Activating 7.1 virtual sound mode in games gives a sense of space, but navigating in it is not easy. I think that over time, a habit will develop that will clearly distinguish the direction of sound. But miracles should not be expected, virtual technology loses to systems with several emitters in one cup.
As already mentioned, a flip microphone is built into the left cup. The design provides height adjustment, and a flexible base allows you to set the correct distance to the mouth. To mute the microphone, it is enough to raise it to the upper position, or completely remove it into the body. There are no questions regarding the quality of voice transmission. The voice sounds natural, the diction is clear. By default, the microphone sensitivity is at a high level and requires adjustment to cut off extraneous sounds.
After getting to know the ASUS ROG Strix Fusion 300, there was no doubt that the headset was designed for gamers - the creators put all the necessary properties. First of all, I want to note a soft fit, the headphones literally hug your head. The second set of fabric ear pads - a pleasant care for gamers. The headset is made in the recognizable corporate identity of ASUS ROG, while the restrained design and a hidden microphone make the headphones universal. On the street, such "ears" will not attract the extra attention of people around. ASUS ROG Strix Fusion 300 - the choice of practical gamers who revere multifunctional gadgets.Pros:
