I refused the hulls about 13 years ago. Both the main working computer and the test one live in the “open stand” format, with complete freedom of access to the components. But, obviously, this option is not suitable for everyone. An inexpensive, spacious and lightweight case is well suited here, while it is modern, with a lower location of the power supply, regular places for CBO radiators and a bunch of fans. Such as Meshify C TG from Fractal Design.

The case is delivered in a modest gray box, which has experienced all the hardships of transport companies. Of course, I will not show it to you. A small box with screws and plugs - please.
Looking ahead, I’ll say that you need one and a half times more screws to fully assemble the system with two drives and one video card. It is clear that the model is budget (relative to other Fractal Design products), but ...
Body in detailExternally - a classic: an almost perfect box with a “clean” front panel, a laid-on embossed mesh on top and a panoramic window instead of the left wall.
The window is made of glass, in our version it is darkened. But the components are still visible, especially in bright directional light.
It is initially assumed that cases with transparent side covers will proudly stand on a table or stand, rather than gather dust in a corner. The glass is fixed at four points with knurled screws. Under the screws - thick shock absorbing bushings that prevent the transmission of vibration and small deformations of the body on the glass.
The front panel is made originally - stamped black grille with a kind of stiffening ribs, eliminating deflection. Yes, and the area of the lattice will increase slightly, which will positively affect aerodynamic drag.
The controls are mounted on a plastic frame: power, reset buttons, a pair of USB 3.0 and two audio jacks. Quite a sufficient set.
On the reverse side of the front panel is foam rubber as a dust filter.
Behind it, the entire height of the mounting holes for fans, allowing you to install either three hundred and twenty, or two hundred centrifuges for blowing or on radiators of the liquid cooling system, from one to three sections. On "ordinary" cheap cases you have to resort to the help of metal cutting tools. It is possible to adjust the location of the fans in height.
With this cover, the case looks very “civilian” - the power cables are hidden from view, only the motherboard with all the components installed in it is visible.
On the reverse side there is plenty of room for laying wires and installing various "unpresentable" modules like power adapters and speed controllers.
For thick power wires, a stamped recess is made, which also adds rigidity to the metal plate under the motherboard.
The power supply is installed on the adapter frame, the maximum length declared by the manufacturer is 175 mm. Most standard PSUs with a “depth” of up to 150 mm will fit perfectly, and modular models should be pre-measured.
As an option, you can dismantle the bay for 3.5 '' drives, but I would not advise - it is conveniently and practically located, on the air flow path from the front fan to the PS
The discs themselves are attached to the slide through rubber spacers, which reduce the vibration transmitted to the metal of the case. Openings are also provided for 2.5 '' drives.
For SATA SSDs, it’s better to use the seats behind the motherboard - you do not need to lay cables at an angle, and space is saved.
The photo clearly shows the disadvantage of many medium-power PSUs - short wires. Copper is not cheap metal, and the Chinese are used to saving on everything. Therefore, it is often necessary to either increase the length of the cables manually (flying off the guarantee), or use an extension adapter. Here it is missing in the kit.
An easily removable dust filter was placed between the four legs, and the metal was streaked with ventilation holes.
The power supply with a 120-140 mm fan can be put in two ways: the intake grille up and down (as a rule, the position is determined by the length of the wires). In the first case, the dust filter will come in handy. In the second case, the meaning of the filter is only when removing the basket with 3.5 '' disks and installing a 120/140-mm fan for blowing. If this is not the case, then no grate is needed: the overpressure in the housing will prevent dust from entering.
By the way, about excess pressure. In cases like Meshify C, this is the only true way to organize internal purging - install more than half of the fans by blowing. Otherwise, dust will penetrate the housing through the numerous uncovered ventilation slots on the rear wall and plugs.
It’s best to do this: two or three fans on the front wall pump cold air, and one on the back wall removes the heated air from the coolers. If two fans with a radiator of the liquid cooling system are added, then nothing can be put on the rear wall.
Another important point is the dust filter on the upper wall, which is above the radiator of the coolant cooling system.
It is useful when blowing fans, but hot air from the radiators is taken out of the case, and it will be useful (dust filter) only if there is no liquid cooling system.
The assembly of the system in Meshify C took a minimum of time, all components fell into place without additional adjustment - the high accuracy of the assembly affects.
Two standard 120 mm fans are enough to purge the case with a medium power system. The one on the back wall had to be crushed up to 600 revolutions per minute - a regular fan on the SJO is properly coping with one. The one on the front panel had to be modified with limiters made of foamed polyethylene, so that he would not drive in a circle inside the case.
To summarizeFractal Design Meshify C TG Black is an elegant and practical case. A lot of seats for fans and radiators allow you to implement any scheme for the direction of air masses, and easily removable filters will not allow the interior to become dusty.
Yes, you have to consider layout features, for example, when choosing a power supply, but the necessary extension cords are easy to find on sale. A glass window is a good design move; technically, the fastening is well done. However, it is worth remembering that glass is not elastic polycarbonate and not light acrylic, and be careful when operating.pros
