To create a high-quality smartphone, not enough good hardware. The most important role is played by special additional chips that improve the operating experience. In the recently released HONOR 9X,
they bet on artificial intelligence and equipped the gadget with a whole range of technologies based on it. Let's talk more about these algorithms and more.
Our hero is equipped with a dual main camera with a 48 megapixel main module and f / 1.8 aperture. But in mobile photography, not only advanced hardware is required, but also high-quality software. In the arsenal of HONOR 9X, for example, there is an intelligent night mode AIS Super Night Mode
. The principle of its operation is similar to HDR: the camera takes about ten pictures with different shutter speeds for 2-6 seconds. Then, the finished photograph is collected in pieces: bright areas are taken from pictures with a short shutter speed, and dark ones are restored from frames with a long shutter speed. The AI Image Stabilization (AIS) software stabilization works all the time during shooting, thanks to which sharp frames are obtained without a tripod. There are no light loops typical for long exposure shooting.
Artificial intelligence also helps when photographing people. First of all, we are talking about portrait shooting with blurring of the rear photo in the manner of professional cameras. Also, one cannot fail to note the 3D-lighting function, which imitates studio lighting for even more spectacular portraits and selfies.
Video recording is supplemented by AI Video Stabilization stabilization technology. It may seem that this is another marketing name for electronic stabilization, but HONOR technology is much trickier. Algorithms receive data from the gyroscope and more accurately deal with unwanted frame tremors.
The second point is the compensation of the jelly effect by dividing each frame into separate sections with the subsequent step-by-step correction of distortions.
Not just a display
This is not the first time that HONOR designers have experimented with framelessness; let's recall the Magic 2
and HONOR 20 slider
with an O-neck in the display. When creating the HONOR 9X, we
went further and provided the device with a moving front camera, which does not conceal the useful area of the front panel. Thus, the 6.59-inch display occupies 91% of the total front panel area - an excellent result for a democratic smartphone for 17 thousand rubles. Despite the minimal scope, the sensors and earpiece are located in the usual place above the display.
The mechanism has passed rigorous tests at different temperatures and humidity, so you should not worry about its reliability. The claimed resource of 100 thousand operations, it turns out, if you use the front-end 20 times a day, this is enough for 10 years of operation. The camera can withstand a force of up to 15 kilograms. And if the sensor detects a fall of the smartphone, the mechanism will automatically fold in 1 second to prevent the meeting of the opened camera from the asphalt.
On a sunny day, the smartphone automatically optimizes brightness and contrast for better readability of information from the display. And in the dark, on the contrary, the level of blue glow decreases with the help of special software filters in night mode. To confirm compliance with safety requirements, the HONOR 9X display has passed a series of tests and received a safety certificate from the German company TÜV Rheinland.
Fans of watching videos on their smartphones will enjoy the HDR, which extends the dynamic range of the image to achieve better detail. HONOR HiACE proprietary algorithms automatically work with any content, which means that they are compatible with YouTube and other platforms.
Another problem solved in the HONOR 9X
is the correct location of the antennas so that the signal does not weaken with any grip of the smartphone. Antennas are not only located at the lower and upper ends, as usual, but also in a special way go to the side. As a result, the company claims a 50% improvement in communication with the horizontal orientation of the gadget and a 20% improvement during calls compared to smartphones with a traditional antenna layout.
If we are talking about communication capabilities, we must mention the built-in NFC module. With it, you can pay in stores by applying the HONOR 9X to a POS terminal, similar to a bank card. And also, without leaving home, replenish Troika transport cards.
Another example of attention to detail is the built-in 128 GB drive based on UFS 2.1 fast memory instead of the outdated eMMC. The key difference between the applied technology is the ability to read and write data simultaneously. Combined with the EROFS (Extendable Read-Only File System) proprietary file system, read speeds reach 962 MB / s and write speeds of 169 MB / s. Although these figures seem boring, they directly affect the responsiveness of the smartphone, as well as the speed of launching applications. The faster the memory, the faster your favorite game will load and the navigation program will open.
