Remember, not so long ago we talked about an incredibly thin gaming laptop from ASUS - Zephyrus GX501VI
? As it turned out, he was only the first swallow of a new wave. New NVIDIA Max-Q
Graphics Cards “Come to the People.” At the end of last week, NVIDIA brought us together to show all the latest laptops in an extremely thin form factor.
The term Max-Q was borrowed by the American manufacturer of the world's best graphics cards from the field of aerospace technology: it refers to the point of maximum load that a rocket passes at launch. Agree, the design of gaming machines has much in common with the design of spaceships. Both there and there require the most radical, bold and advanced technical solutions. And you have to deal with extreme loads and temperatures.
Gaming computers have always been at the forefront of technological progress: these are the most powerful, fastest, most productive and stylish machines. Recently, developers are paying more and more attention to the so-called mobile gaming - the consumer is actively buying laptops.
After NVIDIA introduced the new GeForce GTX 10 series video cards last year, the serious gap between the performance of desktops and laptops was bridged, the traditional letter “M” in front of the name of the video cards disappeared. Now we have a simple one: GeForce GTX 1080, 1070 and 1060 - for any machines.
It is clear that this capricious gamer was not enough. Now everyone wanted the gaming laptops from monumental monsters the size of a suitcase and weighing at least 4-5 kg to turn into graceful slender women ala MacBook Air. Specialists from NVIDIA were able to fulfill this "Wishlist"! To package the most effective Pascal architecture in the desired form factor, they invented Max-Q technology , with which the three GeForce GTX video cards fit in 18 mm cases!
Max-Q Design was made possible thanks to a complete overhaul of the entire laptop device: from physical design to Game Ready drivers. With it, video cards got the opportunity to work at optimal frequencies in terms of performance and power consumption. In absolute terms, the usual GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 in the design of Max-Q are not identical - in favor of the first. But with Max-Q, the system became more balanced as a whole, achieving the optimal balance of power and comfort for the user.
With Max-Q, gaming machines have become not only more compact, but also quieter: they "have some of the best acoustic performance among modern gaming laptops with a maximum noise level of 40 dBA." However, simple video cards were not deprived of superpowers. Now, having downloaded the latest GeForce Experience update, WhisperMode mode will be available to all owners of the GTX 10 series, which limits the frame rate to the most acceptable level, reducing heat dissipation and, as a result, fan noise.
WhisperMode was not the only acquisition of the GeForce Experience software platform: owners of video cards based on Pascal architecture will be able to evaluate the new ShadowPlay Highlights mode, which calculates and captures the best gaming moments automatically, without distracting the player from the battle.
NVIDIA Ansel technology, which has long been loved by creative people, has also acquired a new AI Style Transfer function. Now you can not only take beautiful game screenshots, but also automatically apply the styles of your favorite artists to them - in the manner of the popular Prisma application.
The main question is what kind of thin gaming laptops based on Max-Q will be released in Russia? You will find the answer in the pictures below.
