The smartphone comes in a cardboard box with a hinged lid, decorated in traditional BQ-shnoy red and white. Inside is a white cardboard tray with a smartphone, and underneath are an adapter, cable, battery, manual, warranty card and discount coupon packaged in separate packages. The device already comes from the factory with a protective film on the screen, which is very convenient.
AppearanceBQ Next Music - has a rather harmonious exterior with a pleasant unobtrusive design: rounded corners, a nice warm golden hue, a screen with an actual ratio of 18: 9, which allows you to accommodate a fairly large screen in a compact case.
A removable rear panel hides 2 trays for microSIM and one for a memory card. When installing the fasteners, the covers fit securely into the grooves, do not creak or slip under your fingers - there are no complaints about the build quality. The matte surface of the case does not slip and especially does not get dirty, despite the color. The device lies comfortably in the palm of your hand and is perfectly controlled with one hand.
At the top in the middle is a contrast-highlighted main camera unit - a lens and an LED flash. Below it is a round fingerprint sensor in a glossy gold frame and the BQ logo. Closer to the lower end, the model name, Next Music, is printed in thin font.
One side face is completely free - SIM cards and microSD, as we recall, under the cover. On the other is the power button and volume rocker. Both keys are smooth, sans-serif.
There is an audio jack on the top, and a micro-USB port, atypically shifted to the side, and a microphone on the bottom. When you first take Next Music into your hands, the question immediately arises: “Where are the speakers ?!” Indeed, with this smartphone you will not find the usual grilles either on the sides or on the back cover. The sound comes from elongated narrow speakers, symmetrically installed literally at the joints with the upper and lower ends.
Under the upper one, above the display, (from left to right): front camera flash, proximity sensor, notification indicator and, in fact, the camera module. The smartphone is controlled by on-screen keys, there is no physical control button under the screen. The front panel is covered with curved 2.5D glass.
DisplayBQ Next Music is equipped with a rather large IPS-display with a diagonal of 5.7 ”, although it does not reach the phablet - the compactness of the device provides an 18: 9 ratio. Screen resolution - HD + (1440x720) with a pixel density of 282 ppi. Values, of course, are not top-notch, but quite adequate for a state employee.
The display supports only 2 simultaneous touches: enough for everyday tasks, but not enough for games.
The screen supports an adaptive brightness setting, which pretty accurately adjusts to the level of illumination: however, even 100% is not enough for really comfortable work on a bright sunny day. In the basic settings, it is not possible to turn on the vision protection mode or adjust the color temperature.
The screen does not distort colors and proportions and has a wide viewing angle, but it significantly glare in the sun. In other cases, the image quality does not cause any particular complaints.
IronTraditionally, BQ installed a Chinese chipset in its budget model - a modest 32-bit 4-core MediaTek MT6580P with a maximum clock frequency of 1300 GHz. The dual-core Mali-400 MP2 is responsible for the graphics, which is capable of processing 2 pixels per cycle.
It is clear that you should not expect anything outstanding from such a filling 5 years ago and 2 GB of RAM. This device is clearly not designed for heavy games and 3D-graphics: PUBG, Asphalt or WoT Blitz will definitely “hang” the system, so we advise you to entertain yourself with some simple puzzles, such as Candy Crash. Which, in fact, demonstrate the modest test results.
In general, the device copes with everyday tasks without problems, such as Internet surfing, communicating in social networks and working with mail. The main thing is not to open dozens of windows at once.
Storage on 16 GB, frankly, the average user is not enough, we recommend you immediately get a flash drive for the maximum available 64 GB.
To the credit of our state employee, it is equipped with a fairly quick fingerprint sensor that can recognize up to 5 prints. No complaints about his work were revealed.
System and softwareOur musical smartphone has the latest Android 8.1 on board without additional launchers and decorations. The capabilities of the device are modest, so the menu items are also few: everything is clear and logical.
The manufacturer, as usual, "pleases" the user with a standard set of pre-installed applications, such as Sberbank, AliExpress, Uc Browser, Info Hub, Nine Store (with an assistant soldered into the system), Give Life and Yandex. Moreover, the domestic search engine is installed on a fixed line of basic services. Well, we are not offended: the system is sound, and it's nice to chat with Alice. All of these programs can be removed if desired: in order not to toil around one at a time, it is better to do everything in one fell swoop in the “Storage” through a special utility.
But what definitely isn’t very much is the advertising widgets of applications on the desktop. You have to spend time “cleaning”.
In Android 8.1, the gesture control system is well developed: in the settings menu there are separate items “Smart Action” and “Smart Gesture”. Moreover, in the second paragraph, the user is given a wide field for creativity in the invention of their own icons for launching applications, calls and sending messages. Everything is quite convenient and, most importantly, it functions.
The device supports the fashionable function of simultaneously launching two applications at the same time, dividing the screen into 2 parts.
Our BQ is equipped with a so-called Hall sensor, which gives the smartphone the ability to correctly interact with "complex" cases with magnetic fasteners. A trifle, but nice.
CamerasThe smartphone is equipped with two cameras: 13-megapixel main and 8-megapixel front. Both boast a personalized LED flash.
The interface is simple and affordable. Swipe right and left to switch modes. So, the main camera takes time-lapse shots at different intervals, videos, standard photos and portraits with three “beauty images” - skin smoothing, eye enlargement and facial contraction. The flash and HDR settings are on top of the quick access (the function does not have an automatic mode). By clicking on the “gear”, you exit to the “Settings” menu.
The front camera has a set of almost the same, except that there is no item "Time Interval" and there are specific functions in the "Settings". You can take pictures using the fingerprint sensor, which is quite convenient.
The quality of shooting the main camera can be safely called satisfactory: tenacious autofocus, adequate white balance and color. The only thing is that this sensor is not good at taking pictures with a strong spread across the histogram: either a dip in black or a strong overexposure. Even HDR is not able to significantly fix the situation. Otherwise, in daylight, the camera works decently, but with the advent of night it begins to inevitably become grainy. Portrait mode quite adequately copes with face enhancement, without disfiguring photos with the “mask” effect, as was the case with BQ Slim
The 8-megapixel sensor adequately copes with its functions in the daytime: you can even take a “smart” selfie using the “Beautiful Face” functionality. A highlighted flash, as it usually happens, is really useful only for compensating backlight and at dusk, but in the night its use will only make you horrified of a picture of a distorted grainy physiognomy protruding from the dark.
CommunicationIf we treat the lack of NFC in the budget model of the smartphone with understanding, then 4G in models of this price segment is already found almost everywhere. Next Music user will have to limit himself to 3G. Making calls from the subway is difficult, but otherwise nothing criminal. The speed of data transmission over Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth is available in version 4.0.
Navigation is within the norm: in the city you won’t get lost with this smartphone, but still it’s better to keep track of where it puts a mark when using taxi services.
SoundSo we got to one of the most interesting points of review. The phrase "music budgetary," given the realities of the industry, sounds almost like an oxymoron. BQ-5707G Next Music has something to stand out from the “gray mass” of classmates: suitable stereo speakers are exotic.
The device has 2 speakers on the front panel - symmetrically on top (used as a conversation) and below to create a stereo effect. Next Music is really at least 2 times louder than relatives, and the sound quality is at a level: surprisingly clean and rich. In addition, in the settings it is worth activating the hardware “improver”.
5707G is able to compensate for the lack of a separate column in the kitchen gatherings or on a picnic: you can listen to music or watch a video by a small company. Agree, it is not always possible to carry an additional device with you. At the same time, this model is still not worth using as an audio player: in headphones, it works in the "ordinary" mode.
Battery and powerThe smartphone has a rather modest battery of 2,800 mAh. In order to have a full charge for the whole day, you will have to acquire Zen and master the art of self-control: do not rummage idly on the network and do not cut into games (the most resource-intensive ones will not start here, so there’s less temptation). In the settings there are standard energy-saving features, which are probably worth using every day.
The device will withstand 4-5 hours of active use. If you intend to actively use it to listen to music, you will have to carry a power bank with you. Or you can resort to the good old strategy of “push-button” times: buy an additional battery and change if necessary.

Next Music comes with a modest single-amp adapter: from 0 to 100%, the battery crawls in 4-5 hours, so you need to put the phone on charge in the evening.
To summarizeIf not for musical specialization, BQ Next Music could have been lost among numerous representatives of its budget niche. We will not deny that for the sake of excellent speakers, the manufacturer had to save on something, but it was they who made the 5707G model a unique niche product. Against the background of similar-priced representatives of their own brand, Next Music boasts the latest version of Android, which allowed to make the interface work smoother and completely eliminate the annoying flaws of the cameras.
